I am all about improving previous generation ideas about instructional decisions. I am not an expert on psychology but some things are often very obvious where better solutions to do some things are pretty clear to many people. Or rather some things being practiced in various areas haven’t much actual reasoning/evidence behind the support behind an idea.
Example: segregation definitely stops someone who supports that: by ever having even a semi-healthy relationship with everyone, not just students. That is a very clear archetype/judgement to have upon racists, since there are thousands of factual stories talking about the negativity of segregation. Like its often good to hold a negative-bias towards physically abusive people: as an example of something to watch out for. Those two ideas are often connected with one another and when they are at a minimum there is more improvement regarding an educational classroom. “Teachers who harbor attitudes or feelings towards students that are detrimental to their teaching effectiveness. Strong likes and dislikes of particular pupils/students.. Can reduce teaching effectiveness. When teachers support individuals, they will be more effective, and will derive more satisfaction from teaching.”(James M. Cooper Page 5). “"Experience also affects myelination, which makes a brain-circuit more efficient, and more durable. When we practice something, learn a new skill, or receive training designed to strengthen some sort of cognitive ability. The activity stimulates the growth of white matter in the expected brain regions... Repetition stimulates myelination... Influencing very basic memory to advanced self-regulation. This is the heart of brain plasticity, 'it's not only use it or lose it' but also 'use it and improve it'. This is true at all ages, but malleability is much more easily and reliably accomplished before adulthood.” (Laurence Steinberg, Page 34).“Repeated physical assaults on a child’s stress response system break down his or her ability to respond in healthy or adaptive ways. Multiple traumas will dull a child’s fight, flight, or freeze response, and make it more difficult for him or her to escape danger when it does occur.” (Standford Educational Modules). Which is also defined by the basic psychology term called classical conditioning… Where people train others to get used to abuse. Many in the army often go through these types of mental physical training to prepare them for war… “There are many examples of classical conditioning in humans, one of the earliest experiments was conducted by psychologist John Watson who conditioned a baby to fear white objects by associating the objects with a loud scary noise... The USA marines: drill instructors train people to overcome their fears. Most people respond to yelling with fear, so the drill instructors yell at the recruits. Yelling is a trigger that connects to the unconditioned reflex of fear which is connected with a neutral stimulus/object. Such as a hat, a badge, a uniform. This object is also called cover identification to represent the marine drill instructor. Eventually the neutral stimulus/object has become recognized as the conditioned stimulus that causes fear in the recently recruited soldiers.” (NILRC and KOCE-TV). I believe Laurence Steinberg chose the title Age of Opportunity because we live in a modern age where brains is more important then physical strength. That of course has been studied for a few generations and the benefits of using brains instead of strength leads a better lifestyle for all. While at at the same time, those who use physical force on children for example don’t typically read or have the time to read. Their opportunity is limited and the child who has been abused by a parent typically has less opportunity to live a healthy life. This strength vs brains has been a topic of debate for generations. This book tries to stress the importance of opportunity and to give opportunity to kids and adolescence teens. What I wrote in one of my educational classes, is that many don't read. So at that point education stops there. Abuse continues etc. I feel a lot of these ideas have been said before but science definitely advances society forward. And many today battle science as that group that fails to read? That's where I am at on this sort of topic.... So yeah opportunity and drama.I've always liked the idea of the reminiscent bump as well too. Its a fun topic to think about, which almost puts you into another bump and people debate that bump.... ZZZZZZZ well it does all have more to do with learning. What works and what doesn't XD. Sources:
In some education classes I've taken people debate homework importance and how homework isn't something that challenges kids. So I think that is also important to start this conversation since this section on my site is devoted to adolescence development. Since so many ‘teachers’ threaten students or punish students because of assignments.. Homework doesn’t always support everyone's learning styles. While taking it away completely doesn’t help everyone either. Since some enjoy the benefits of that forced practice. However, the degree of force has lessened in public schools or at least it should-be less then it ever was before. If schools are failing at that then that school should-be examined for abuse upon students. In most cases something like lunch detention is enough punishment, hitting kids doesn’t do anything useful for the kids.
Now to get to the focus point here: Perhaps, the gun for teacher thing will help school shootings but that just goes back to the idea of knife combat, a kid could bring a knife to school and do just about as much damage and may out smart the teacher in knife combat. That is something to consider as well. There is a lesson that the teaching industry is failing to learn. The lesson students are trying to teach teachers is that they deserve equal respect. A child can kill you just as an adult can kill the child. Most want to be teachers in many of my classes and many teachers in the industry of teaching prefer yelling and aggravating students further to a point where some students need to find a self defense. I think that is one take that many don’t realize regarding school shootings. Sometimes the teacher may deserve a punishment, and that is a tough topic that goes beyond my experience. 8% of teachers are physically threatened by students. And many of those teachers have been physically attacked. Since it is a big topic as of right now with the school shootings and everything else. My argument is always that the world wars have just passed by... When comparing these the youth violence with those youth who served in the world wars only about 50 years ago.. The amount of violence has drastically decreased. Also regarding the CDC, and how nearly 10% of high-school males regularly carry a gun, that is important so that people can have their own self defense. Many young children drove in tanks just like they can drive a car.. At least you don't have kids driving tanks into schools... Things have improved for the time being.. You don’t know what will happen so citizen self defense for males and females is often very important and is overlooked in public education. I support the idea of Teachers having guns. And there is the possibility that a teacher could hurt the students with their gun. Or that a student takes that teachers gun… This is very reflective upon the world’s cold war. Where bombs get taken and islands like Cuba threaten the USA. Then others help defend Cuba against threats. Everyone should have equal defense against each-other, that’s all there is too it. I express these ideas more historically in my book series, that I am still working on. For more information check my other page. Failing to address adolescence or rather the modern day kids # 9 The Growth of Knowledge VS Dictators - Adolescence Version. - professor prestome ungyobrock "According to old research young children's emerging ability to use various types of epistemic cues to evaluate a speaker's claims and that speakers future credibility: Many can't be evaluated via the child's experience or logic. Thus many preschool children prefer to learn new information from their mother rather than a stranger. And Learn from a familiar person rather than an unfamiliar teacher.”(Kathleen Corriveau and Vikram Jaswal). So that's something that is pretty common, to all. Eventually confidence increases in children often due to practice of the above, along with the increase in testosterone estrogen and progesterone in the brain naturally. Thus increasing the student’s arguing skills, and personal credibility. Credibility is often a perception of retrospection. In other words some of it is just politics… Many controlling and dictating adults/teachers/military etc decrease the credibility of adults/adolescent-teenagers/children: rather girl or guy. So supporting your child in regards to their arguing skills on intellectual levels is beneficial to their development. Being able to defend yourself physically is an old form of defense. It is most certainly important when facing a rapist/pedophile/murder. But when in a logical society, people argue with logic and words. Restricting children by the old idea of ‘talking-back’ or being ‘rude’ is idiotic and doesn’t benefit anyone. In-fact the main thing that; shutting up your adolescence teen, does is, show your personal failures as an adult. Since, at that point brain function stops/talking stops. Meaning zero brain growth relating towards communication/arguing. According to some more modern research using brain scans etc. Relating to the idea of perspection. The Experimental Paradigms, a perception via distance and different focuses in different environments. “MRI Scan Trials presented cues, relating towards the expectations about the upcoming motion via direction that was then either valid or invalid. These trials tested and compared brain right level stimuli testing expectations. Also testing stimuli that was unexpected versing what was expected by the patients expectations relating towards their decision making process relating towards speech/vocal output response. As an important note on the trials is that there wasn’t any fixed response mapping. So testing the expectations were really perceptual rather than expected. The Brain Neuroimaging results showed that expectations were carried out in the Orbital Gyrus section of the brain on both the right and left side. When the patient was shocked by new information/a new situation a typical brain uses a minimum set of brain regions, mainly the lateral mid range and prefrontal cortex/Gyrus.” (loris De Lange). This shows an idea behind learning, relating towards comparing old knowledge with new knowledge of an adult. The expectations are important to test because many don’t even get to experience new expectations when new or unexpected ideas are blocked/banned - even more so when what is banned isn’t even evaluated by others. -imortalone- The reason why people need to be thinking of adolescence differently is because.... The focus of classroom standards and how the standards have been evolving since 1987. Yet the standards still haven’t been able to keep up with the updates of society. Evolution is of course defined simply as how people change and develop.. The Adolescent age groups according to many hasn’t been going well "In General, the earlier age at which children now mature physically faster is much more worrisome than most people recognize.. Earlier puberty places people at significantly greater risk for a host of problems."(Laurence Steinberg, Page 9). That it is important to reflect, be open, and try to achieve objectives. That can apply towards all the characteristics of development in the adolescent stages. The TASC teacher assessment and support consortium. Is one of the groups that access young adult development rules. They are one of the groups that decide what can and can’t be done. The definition relates towards the group of people that give teachers permission to do as they wish. The goal is to give good teachers the right/training to spend time with children via teaching. What is taught reflects upon how students develop and learn. The TASC focus is on state standards and teacher certification of individuals who have achieved the required high-standards.. Teachers have to go through more training then ever before, since more training is needed. Previous generations of teachers have been known to cause depression and horrible side effects in students. Communication establishes and solves problems much easier then an impulsive fool/religious groups/abusive teachers... To conclude this with a world problem (Found in Places like the USA/India/Europe etc) often supported by Western Religion groups until recently. This religious influence on politics and school resulted in horrible side effects in students.“In the 18th century whipping or flogging was a common punishment in the British army and navy. However it was abolished in 1881.Among commonly used forms of corporal punishment was birching. This punishment meant beating a person across the backside with birch twigs. Once a common punishment in schools it could also be imposed by the courts for minor offenses. Birching/whipping was banned in Britain in 1948. Meanwhile for thousands of years until the late 20th century teachers beat children in the British Empire.”(TimLambert). Over 200 years in the USA.. Sources: Age of Opportunity. Laurence Steinberg. That it goes further to a point where parents and teachers disregard any sort of point or argument that the kid has to say. Perhaps the middle school student learned something from their peers: rather good or bad via the view of the parent… Or experienced something new, or perhaps experienced the receiving side of what they were doing to others.. Teachers, and Parents/family shouldn’t ever be the only influence over a kid. If a kid doesn’t have any personal experience of their own then they will struggle in everything regardless of how smart or experienced the parent/teachers might be, because when confronted with a new situation by themselves, they don’t have someone to give them an answer. Teachers and parents often try to dominate and dictate the lives of their kids to full-fill their own personal agenda. Rather that is school assignments, or actual work you want them to do around the home. If there is some personality from the kid trying to show up… That personality is often attacked by parents/teachers/religious groups. This attacking/dominating by parents/teachers: destroy the personal relationship and any understanding about the child. Since when attacking the kid you automatically- the attacker doesn't understand the kid, and as thus failed, to at least some degree: which is really the only thing that happens. Ultimately, I would say there is a lack of places and locations for people in general to be themselves and do as they want. This is an important part of teaching because there are a lot of aggressive or complaining parents, that teachers often have to deal with.. People who want the best for their kids and make sure that the teacher knows that their kid is the best without typically considering other kids…The previous information is important because there is a whole world outside of just parents and their kids. Kids who typically have friends, at the very least. A parent-should-know that it is normal for one child to score lower, then a different child who has scored higher, in an educational test. Many USA state tests have questions/work that isn’t available to teachers. Ultimately, I guess my lesson here, as a view point of teacher/parent/student etc is just try and take at least a second to relax. Even more so when, you live your life in that constant fast lane of stop and go: perhaps, never ending schedules. Reflecting on the importance of relaxing is, often a point Ill try to make during my teaching carrier, because relaxing is important to lower your stress levels and improve your health. (by Professor Prestome Ungyobrock-Just like everything else on here:) Regarding a response towards the textbook, Age of Opportunity by Steiberg. The topic and evaluation of the statistic, “A third of young women in the USA will get pregnant at least once by the age twenty. The USA continues to lead the world in teen pregnancies and STD’s. While Ranking near the top in adolescent abortions.” (Steiberg, page 12). To simply point out a few things/problems. 1. some young women want to have children at young ages. People shouldn’t try and stop them, and this leads to a second point. 2. Is the point that many adults don’t have the money to support a child, so the chances that teenagers have the financial backing to support child growth: is very limited. Financial problems is the real problem that people should be talking about. I personally signed a petition saying that the USA government/army-shouldn’t-have-any-control over a women’s body. This control is unethical and illogical. “House Republicans scheduled to hold a hearing in November 2017, on legislation that would ban-abortion at the first detection of a fetal heartbeat—often something that happens about six weeks into pregnancy, before many women even know they're pregnant.Representative Steve King (R-Iowa) introduced the bill, known as the "Heartbeat Protection Act of 2017," in January. He modeled it after a bill that made it to Ohio Governor John Kasich's desk in December 2016. Kasich ultimately vetoed the bill in favor of a 20-week abortion ban” (Marie Solis). These unethical bills don’t help anything. The illogical bans on abortion make rape more accepted. Since a woman who is raped can do nothing. When a teen doesn’t want a child they can do even less about it due to these abortion bans.. These recent unethical USA laws hurt the rights of female/woman/girl rights on all levels: from speech towards their own body. Women aren’t property of the USA Army. Sources: 1. All forms of development aren’t being met: meaning the cognitive, emotional, and physical parts of students. I feel the teaching standards directly relate towards child development. That is why there are all these organizations. It is imperative for those organizations to develop flexibility and incorporate freedom in the 21st century. "American adolescents aren't doing well. Many of the encouraging trends in indicators of adolescent well-being that we saw over the past 20 years (1990-2010) have leveled off or have even reversed..." (Laurence Steinberg, Page 11). TASC teacher assessment and support consortium. Is one of the groups that accesses young adult development. They are one of the groups that decide what can and can’t be done. The TASC focuses on state standards and teacher certification of individuals who have achieved the required high standards..Teachers have to go through more training then ever before, since more training is needed.Previous generations of teachers have been known to cause depression and horrible side effects in students. This of course relates to me since I am doing all of the extensive training to earn my teaching certification. When there are many who don’t go through the training and just jump right into teaching, those teachers are often too strict, misinformed, and missing information. The information given to future teachers should continue to evolve as well to incorporate more freedom. Kid development directly reflects the standards that are put in place. If standards fail. The kids fail. If standards are too restrictive kids become too reclusive and this is conclusive.Like limiting technology in a modern society. Hurts children in a modern society. This directly relates to my restrictive life in school; it directly relates towards future teachers/parents. Since being restrictive has a direct relationship towards causing more people to develop with a constant violent irrational behavior, depression, suicide, anxiety, psychological disorders, and an inability to function in a modern society. The focus on classroom standards and how the standards supposed to be evolving since before 1987. It is important to continue evolving flexibility, freedom, understanding, and technology advancements. Source: Age of Opportunity: Lessons from the New Science of Adolescence. By Professor PRestome UngyobrockRead Now The research question, or rather idea of a proposed educational game changer: is assigning every student an experienced psychologist/liaison. Who could help determine the social and emotional status of a particular child, or rather every child. In order to determine that students academic and development level. The idea is to help fix problems that the child might be experiencing before the problem gets worse. I think this effects all types of development by finding issues at young developmental ages. This might help stop parent abuse and help ease emotional trauma at young ages. I personally believe having children see a psychologist for therapy would be better then having a child go to a religious group seeking emotional help. I think this idea might help bring about more positive teenagers and adults. The article aims to represent and apply a liaison for Pre-Kindergarten through Second Grade. The idea is to apply a psychologist/liaison to every student without segregation while also talking with parents of the child. And of course, the parents might need more advise then the child and this idea would be a chance for that parent to gain parental advise.
“Many of us educators know about the effectiveness of parent advocacy groups in the special education contexts. Whether it be an example like Virginia’s Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center or a broader group such as the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network in New Jersey, the focus of such groups is less on prevention and more on students with existing difficulties. These groups operate “outside” the school; the SEAD liaison would be bringing the child advocacy function inside the school, and this support would be provided for every child. If this approach were tried, even in a limited way at first by assigning just youths in immediate need a SEAD liaison, schools would see benefits, including less instructional time lost and less stress on teachers.”(Maurice Elias) I think these ideas are supported by already existing major results relating to improvement. This would help create more job options for psychologists while also helping out the overly stressed out teachers. As a teacher myself that would be nice, even-though I focus more on Secondary Education. I think you could see an improvement in parental skills, emotional stability, and educational improvement: in society. Source: An On-Site Advocate For Every Student. Maurice Elias. And the desire to do what you want with whom you want should be increasing, by a number of obvious factors such as your dreams, work, school, puberty, sports, games, internet, religion, family, revolution, etc. Most kids know that they are starting to reach that point where 1/3 of their entire life is gone and many teenagers start reflecting on their accomplishments thus far. This reflecting often happens in the early stages of ‘adolescence’ years. While many teenagers who are undecided for their futures or have accomplished little V.S. a-lot, is a normal idea that comes into their self image reflection. Even with an increase in tension regarding relationships/self identity etc. Even while seeing friends etc, move on with their own lives-goals: High-school kids should be able to control their emotions at least a little bit.. Since they have actually lived many years of their lives, and should-have gained most of the basic knowledge to at least fit in with society. This of course is where modern school systems fail, because more kids are lacking in actual world experiences because of their guardians favorable life to subjecting that pre-adult to massive amounts of censorship. Those who can't handle life and break down during High-School is often a product of the lack of understanding of them as individuals. A lack of understanding as individuals,is a product from those around them who don’t let them be them. Others, perhaps for their entire lives, aren’t understood by those around them... There is also a lack of teaching regarding managing stress and or their own Finances. That there is also a lack of understanding regarding their own personal relationships or a desire of not having one. This failure to be able to manage a relationship-with a favorable sex-successfully, is often due to a the child experiencing a lot of censorship in their life before high-school.Dave from the Youtube Channel Boy In A Band Dave talks about how there is too many sexual prevention/sexual education classes, and there isn’t any classes on actual successful parenting. That’s not all however, since there is a lack of actual options for students throughout middle school regarding individual personal reflection. This is due to a lack of child freedom, regarding being able to pick would world options relating towards carriers or even hobbies. Healthy growth on a large scale is often prevented by middle schools, which of course leads many to the idea of don’t stay in school. Have they been able to have their own path, or one forcefully mapped out for them? By the time children get into teenage years most of their life has been forcefully devoted towards school. Many schools in the year 2000 of course have many similarities to that of prison life: instead of having students in actual practice relating towards, actual educational goal boosting. For a final example: the option to drop out of school is available, and should-be available to adolescents/teenagers. Yet, by the time a child has reached adolescent years in high-school: the middle schools have only been-forcing a strict old style one size fits all curriculum. This outdated curriculum that destroys freedom and human rights makes it very difficult for students to be able to drop out, although they should-be able too: for whatever reason. Since they themselves are pre-adults. New Source Boy In A Band/Dave. Don't Stay in School. Song/videos. |
